UPDATE: Alumnus and veteran Steve Stout, BSEE'92, has generously pledged to match every gift received dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 (for a total of $10,000)!
Student Veterans of America
The mission of Student Veterans of America (SVA) is to provide military veterans with the resources, support, and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation. The LTU chapter was established in 2011, after a few student veterans recognized a need for a group that focused on the needs of the Student Veteran community on our campus. Our goal is to see all veterans succeed at this University, achieve their academic goals, and gain meaningful employment.
Our Fundraising Goal
We are aiming to raise $3,000 to fund improvements to the Student Veterans’ Lounge (pictured below), programming, and resources for veterans.
Your gift to the SVA at LTU could allow us to:
- Enhance our current SVA lounge, a dedicated room on campus for us to come together, whether it’s to study or just hang out. (Many student veterans' resource centers at other universities have computer labs, tutoring, and other academic resources that ours unfortunately does not.)
- Bring in speakers, coaches, and other experts to help vets navigate some of the challenges we face—from understanding VA benefits to coping with PTSD to juggling family and academics.
- Send SVA members to local and national seminars, workshops, and conferences.
- Build a stronger community and give us (and those that come after us) the tools we need to successfully transition!
We hope that you'll give at a level that is personally significant to you! Every gift will make a difference. But some gift levels do come with some perks!
You'll receive a "Lawrence Tech Vets" t-shirt with any gift of $25 or more.
With a gift of $100 or more you'll also receive an LTU Veterans Challenge Coin.
With a gift of $250 or more, you'll get a pair of tickets to join us at our annual scholarship dinner (a $90 value)!
Thank you for supporting our veterans here at Lawrence Tech!
