Send LTU Shakespearians to the Detroit Opera House
In Shakespeare in Production, a Junior-Senior Literature elective at LTU, students not only read, discuss, and write about Shakespeare's plays, they learn how to perform in Shakespeare plays. From the first day of class, students master iambic pentameter verse and demonstrate in each class how Shakespeare deploys pacing, rhythm, alliteration, assonance, and onomatopoeia for dramatic effect. For the final exam, students produce, direct, and act in scenes from the plays we are studying. Students also attend local performances of Shakespeare plays. This year, Shakespeare in Detroit is producing the Twelfth Night at the glamorous and historic Detroit Opera Theater, but the tickets, at $50 each, are cost prohibitive for students. We very much want to attend this exclusive performance, but we need help from our LTU family and friends. Even a small donation helps us attend this play that we are studying in class!!
